And speaking of recipes, Horizon Organic producer partner Perry Clutts sent us two amazing homemade pecan pies for the holidays. Made with organic ingredients using a 1946 recipe from Joy of Cooking (recipe below), the pies were deeelicious.
Here’s the recipe: Prepare 1 baked pie shell. Cream: 1/3 cup Horizon Organic butter and 3/4 cup packed brown sugar. Beat in one at a time: 3 organic eggs. Stir in: 1 cup Wholesome Sweeteners organic corn syrup, 1 cup broken pecans, 1 tsp organic vanilla and 1/4 tsp salt. Fill the shell. Bake at 375 degrees for 1/2 hour.
