DHA Omega-3

What is DHA?

DHA is one of the “healthy fats” you’ve heard about, known as Omega-3′s. It’s a major structural fat in the brain and retina, accounting for up to 97% of the omega-3 fats in the brain and up to 93% of the omega-3 fats in the retina.2 DHA is important for supporting brain, heart and eye health at all ages.

According to Horizon’s consulting pediatrician, Dr. Alan Greene,* most American kids don’t get the optimal amount of DHA. The typical 3-year-old averages only 19 mg of DHA a day, far less than the 150 mg that leading health authorities recommend.3

While other DHA-fortified milks rely on the addition of fish oil, Horizon® uses pure, plant-based DHA made without the use of hexane. Because our DHA is plant-based, you can be sure your milk has the same delicious taste you expect from Horizon.
